For When You Get Discouraged...

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

Are you tired? Feeling drained out of energy and about to lose your temper but apathy sets in and just before you open your mouth to speak, you heard a sigh coming out of your throat? Well, you're not alone, we all know that by now humanity is getting bored with itself and is on a path of destruction.

Well, it's not every day we make it a point to self-destruct. Every emotions are momentary and yet there's this underlying sense of emptiness that permeates the streets after the party's over. Life takes over. People lay in beds dreaming of flying high and then wake up, with their feet on the ground. The excitement is akin to a luke-warm coffee. The start of every day of your life.

What is the cause of this lingering discouragement? Is it because of the weather - it's too hot, too cold for the average winter, too long for the usual day, too whatever? Are you annoyed that after all the hype of your younger days dreaming of soaring high like eagles in the great blue sky - now all you do is dry, rinse and repeat the same old process of putting money on the table until you run your spirit dry?

Where's the joy? The creative passion that you once had as a child - where did it go? Beneath all the layers of presumed expectations, fears, automatic conformity, depressing self-to-self dialogues - where are you? Are you still here or are we all just empty shells in motion filling up the spaces to bide time before our demise?

Before we all die of boredom and killer-apathy, I would like to share some of the most powerful quotes in hopes of boosting your spirits. Their potency depends on your capacity to get their meaning, and that's all you need.

“Where the spirit does not work with the hand there is no art.” -Leonardo da Vinci

“Be still when you have nothing to say; when genuine passion moves you, say what you've got to say, and say it hot.” -D.H. Lawrence

“The opposite of courage in our society is not cowardice, it is conformity.” -Rollo May

“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.” -Dr Seuss

“A little integrity is better than any career.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson

“To live a pure unselfish life, one must count nothing as one's own in the midst of abundance.” Buddha

“Men often become what they believe themselves to be. If I believe I cannot do something, it makes me incapable of doing it. But when I believe I can, then I acquire the ability to do it even if I didn't have it in the beginning.” - Mahatma Gandhi

“A person does not have to be behind bars to be a prisoner. People can be prisoners of their own concepts and ideas. They can be slaves to their own selves.” -Maharaji
